Brain Spillage

My small fry is probably up to 7 1/2 pounds now. We have a nurse come to our house every week to weigh Burke and to get his vitals. It's nice not to have to take him to the doctors office with all those sickly kids.

And... we have a nurser! Full time. It's so nice not pumping and not washing bottles. Constantly.

...

If I ever go to New York City again, I will only ride in van taxis, in hopes of getting in the Cash Cab, my new favorite tv show. I watch it every time I sit down to nurse Burke.

...

We have our tree up, but there aren't any decorations on it yet. Baby steps.

...

Nate WILL NOT STOP talking about the whole Tiger Woods thing. Really, he's heartbroken. Tiger was his idol. In Nate's words, "I will not buy ANYTHING Tiger Woods again!" We shall see Nathan... we shall see.

...

Nate and I both went to the dermatologist today. I had some funky moles I needed to get checked out. I made Nate's appointment as an afterthought, not thinking he really needed it. Anyway, my moles looks good, one of his didn't. And they chopped it off his head to be biopsied. But while telling this to Jessie on the way home, I told her that his mole was going to be autopsied. Apparently I watch WAY too much Dr. G: Medical Examiner. I'm glad he went to the appointment. Hopefully the mole autopsy goes well.

...

This time of year, when there is so much sweet stuff around, all I want to eat are tacos.

...

I'm going to let you in on a little secret. One that I'm pretty sure has saved me from some post partum depression. Ready? Shhhh.... I have someone come and clean my house every once in a while. Really, it has made a huge difference in how I feel. When my house gets a little unruly, and I'm way too tired to attempt the deep cleaning, I can feel my anxiety rise a little. This has helped tremendously. Now, she doesn't clean my floors as well as I do, but at least they get done on a regular basis.

Funny/semi-embarassing story. The first time Sarah came to clean after we were home with Burke (because my mother-in-law had her come over while I was in the hospital, SO nice of her) things were a little crazy. We were taking lots of pictures and lots of video. So, a good place to store our cameras out of reach of our 3-year-old was in our bedroom. On our tall dresser. By our bed. Can you see where this is going?

But we took WAY more pictures than we did video, so the camera usually ended up back in the kitchen, or family room or wherever. So, after she left I came into my beautifully cleaned and dusted room. There on my polished tall dresser was a vase, our family picture, our house phone... and the video camera... by our bed. You get the picture. Anyway, I got embarrassed for her because I'm sure she was super uncomfortable. And I put the video camera back in its case. In my office.

...

Why can Charlie Buckets grandpa sit in a bed for 20 years, as the family eats nothing but cabbage water, but can magically get his lazy ass out of bed and DANCE when he has the opportunity to go to a chocolate factory?!? What the hell, Grandpa Joe! If you can dance and go meet Willy Wonka, you can go to work and bring home some bacon!

...

Here is a dilemma I have this week, which I need to sort out quick. I have my Christmas cards, and I have Burke's birth announcements, which I received at the same time. Do I send them together in the same envelope? They are going to the same people. Is that tacky?

...

I love butter. Sometimes I will eat a piece of bread, not because I want the bread, but because the bread is a catalyst to get the butter in my belly. And on my belly, really. And because taking a bite out of the butter stick would just be wrong.

...

I'm writing this because I'm avoiding my Christmas letter. I've got writers block. It's like, you don't want to be all ostentatious like some people are. Like, we are SO COOL and our kids are PERFECT! But you also don't want to write about what a little shit your 3-year-old has been since you brought home a new baby and threw off his groove. Balance.

I'll get to it tomorrow.
...

The End.

...

But seriously, Nate will not stop talking about Tiger Woods.

i would totally send the two in the same envelope. save some stamps and envelopes.

i am so jealous- you are my hero that you have someone cleaning your house- that is freaking awesome. love the video camera story! and totally just stick your birth announcements in with the christmas cards- youve got too much going on than to separate them.

First of all....SO jealous about the cleaning lady. I'd hire a cleaning lady in a second, but Morgan thinks it's like hiring someone to wipe your butt (for the lazy). He doesn't know what he's talking about. I clean the house, and 30 minutes later it's a disaster again.

Birth announcements and Christmas cards together for sure. Save and envelope...save a tree?

I'm with you on butter. I just discovered butter in oatmeal. The more the better!

Oh, and the Christmas letter... one year when I was younger, my dad wanted to send one oun that said a bunch of stuff like my brother was in jail, I was pregnant, etc. Didn't happen. Would have been funny.

oh my gosh...please add that last paragraph to your christmas letter...classic! i feel your pain! some days i'd like to give kamryn away, but i know no one would take her even if i paid them because she's such a monster!

and, by the way, if anyone complains that you sent christmas cards and a birth announcement out at the same time, just claim you were going green and saving on the extra envelope :)

I love your update; you're so funny. Both announcements in both for sure...why waste your time and separating them.
I love Burke...what a cutie. Too bad Brett is having a rough time...but I totally think you should put it in your card. So funny! Glad things are going so well!

Mike and I both love Cash Cab. We don't have TiVo, so we love when they have Cash Cab marathons (okay we don't have cable either, so we go to his parents to watch).

If I was on welfare I'd still have a cleaning service. There is no shame here. It is a sanity savor.

one day we should hang out and eat butter, drink diet coke, and watch Cash Cab all day long...while someone else cleans our house it would be our perfect day!

One envelope for both Christmas and birth announcement...then use the saved money on envelopes and stamps to buy a great Christmas gift!

I love the Cash Cab. Hooray for full time nursing. And I have a cleaning lady too. She is almost six and works for quarters. It's awesome.

I'm with everyone else on this one... like someone would receive both in the same envelope and think, "Loser... can't believe she did that." So, what were you guys doing with your video camera by your bed?

Bobbi said...

Sharon You seriously CRACk me up!!!

WHAT is cash cab? Obviously I'm missing out on something! AND, I was thinking pretty much what everyone else said...so, ditto!

there has been a LOT of Tiger talk at our house too...Kenny's ranting usually goes something like this "what does he mean he wants to keep his life private? he can't keep his life private and be an endorser. If you want to be the reason I buy a Buick or shave with Guillete, then I have every reason to know you!" But anyway, I'm all for that house cleaning. Not just for after baby but to keep me from killing my family on a weekly basis. After work, homework, cooking, laundry, kid taxi, etc I think I might go psyco if I had to clean a toilet on my Saturday morning!

House cleaners are the wave of the future. I think behind every successful woman, there's secretly a house cleaner helping her stay happy. Fo shizzle.

I just found you from ~J and A-FREAKING-MEN about Grampa Joe. Every time I watch that I skip past Charlie's mom's washer woman song that lasts for thirty years, and then I yell at Grampa Joe. The end.
