Little Burke Man:18 months old
19 lbs 7 oz
30 something inches tall. Or short.
(It's 31 or 34. I can't remember, 'cause I'm the BOMB!)
His Dr. is not happy with his weight AT ALL.Now he is on a strict diet of:
butter on everything (because the 3 Tablespoons I was was putting on his 2 pieces of toast obviously wasn't enough)
half and half in his cereal
ice cream whenever we can fit it in
high calorie shakes, maybe with some heavy whipping cream thrown in for good measure
anything high in fat
The kid is going to have a heart attack when he's 4.
Do you know how hard it is to buy fatty food and actually give it to your kid to eat?It feels wrong.
I told Burke's Dr. that I'll be creating a monster because when he reaches the weight he wants and we have to quit, Burke will be a nightmare. Fun for everybody!
Other than his weight, the Dr. said he looks good! He's on track developmentally, which is a relief. He can say:Mom

more (sign)

bye bye
hugs
and... photosynthesis
Wish him luck! And at least 10 pounds.

He weighs about the same as Moirah does (18 months old) and Savannah did at that age. Savannah's dr. told me that to, but I didn't listen very well and she is just fine now. I realize he was a premie, but I completely agree with you about turning him into a monster. It would be hard to get him off those types of foods. Believe me, I've been addicted to ice cream my whole life.
At least he's a lady killer! My Fatty is just shy of 23 lbs at 6 mo. Maybe he could give Burke some tips on successful childhood obesity.
He's a cute one though. Sad we didn't come down this past weekend. Pierce had a nasty cough the dr. said to watch...could turn into rsv. Morg said you guys have been busy too...getting ready for you fancy trip this weekend. Someday we'll see each other again.

Haha! Our Doc said the same thing about my 18 month old. She just told me to give him a Pediasure once a day. So much easier and heatlhier then loading on so much unnecessary fats. I started giving him one a day when he was 12 months and now his weight is fine. I think my son would have been fine w/o the Pediasure, but what do I know, I'm just his mom!
seriously.... i think doctors are just to overwhelm us and make us feel like bad moms. My doctor said the same for Daxton at 15 months.... which seems a little ridiculous! I just can't in my right mind feed my kid icecream loaded with sugar every single night and shove his mouth with fattyness in hopes that he will gain weight. i think he looks perfect!
I'd go with the Pediasure too.
Mmm cream and butter- that is one lucky kid!!! He is such a little cutie!!!
