This is Jess. My beloved college roommate. Aren't her eyes insanely green? I love it. She's getting hitched August 1st. I am so excited for her! He's a nice guy. I think he's totally scared of me, but still nice. Good pick Jess.On a side note, Jess was so easy to live with. We only had one fight. And it was over mopping the floor. I looked at her like she was smoking crack when she told me to mop the floor at 11 p.m. What was she thinking? I had places to go and boys to kiss. I wasn't going to mop the floor! Anyway, I slammed the door three times on my way out, and the next day... it was like it never even happened. BFF's again. She's great. But our other roommate? Whack job.

The food. Pretty much the most important part of the shower. Besides the bride. I'm not really one to brag about what a fantastic chef I am, but there are a couple things I make that rock the house. Like my banana bread. And my Cabbage Salad and Orange Salad. Here are the recipes.
Cabbage Salad
1 cabbage, sliced & shredded
2-3 green onions
1 - 4 oz. pack of sliced almonds, toasted. Not burned, ok Jess?
1 pack Ramen noodles, crunched
Dressing:
1/2 c. oil (vegetable or canola)3 T. sugar
3 T. rice vinegar
1 packet spices from Raman noodles, I prefer chicken flavored
pepper
salt
garlic powder
cayenne powder (optional)
Mix dressing, Ramen noodles and almonds in right before serving.
We also had an Orange Salad. I made it up for some Relief Society thingy a couple of months ago, and it was a hit.
Orange Dressing:
1/3 c. olive oil, light2 T. red wine vinegar
3 T. sugar
zest from 1 orange
juice from 1 orange
garlic powder to taste
salt and pepper to taste
Salad:
Italian lettuce, RomaineSliced oranges
Craisins
Candied pecans or walnuts (To candy nuts, roast then in a pan with butter and brown sugar)
This was the party favor. A bag of kisses.Does any one else want to have a party? Can I throw it? Or just come for the free food?
Do you still talk to your college roommates?
Some of mine will probably be my life-long friends. Some of the others? I'll duck behind a tree if we ever cross paths.

Shar, it looks like you throw a great party. And those salads recipes look so good. You are amazing!!!
You sure do know how to throw a party. I wish we could live closer together so we can throw parties for eachother every once in a while just for the heck of it!! I hope you have been brain storming some cute ideas to give you neighbors for the upcoming 4th...any ideas?!
ps... you are not not invited to my blog in case you were wondering, I just dont have one anymore.
pss. I think we have a few roomates in common that we would duck behind a tree if we ever ran into again...and they probably read your blog...
We should have a little party for Catie when you come out for the weddings...however, I think you and I would be the only ones invited. One of these days I hope to be invited to one of your parties. Have you started the shots?
Totally looking forward to your next Halloween party...I promise I won't be having a baby this year! I love having/throwing parties too!
I make that same cabbage salad all the time...we call it asian slaw and I use sunflower seeds most of the time....YUMMY!
i wish you lived closer. i would love to have you help me throw a few parties. or we could just make up reasons to party and make the party food.
What about an "Un-birthday Party!?" You are so talented & artistic. Kudos to you!
Um, funny you brought up roomies... I was just talking about that today! One girl I lived with yanked my jeans off a door that led to our living room-- they were drying-- to slam it, cuz APPARENTLY she was trying to sleep & we were being too loud! (It was early, and yes, there were cute boys over too!) I got way wizzed and ran after her saying, "Don't mess with my jeans!" and she came at me with these crazy demon eyes like she was going to kill me, so I pushed her to get her off me and then ran away. She called her dad that night to drive all night long & get her. When we all woke up the next day, she was gone. The end. Aw, mem'ries. Thanks for your fun stories and cute posts. We have to have lunch or something soon, kapeesh?
YUMMY recipes. I'm going to try them both. Then I'm going to make them for a party I will have sometime between July 31st and August 10th. Sound good?!
OMG I'm #6 on your top commenters, my life is complete.
I still stay in touch with a few of my college roomies. My college bff and I are still close and talk weekly if not daily. There are a few I would hit with a shovel rather than hide behind a tree if I ever saw them again. we loved each other THAT much.
i'm having a party on the 12th of July. Come. Bring treats.
My college roommates are the greatest friends I have. Luckily I went to college or I'd only have like one friend. Thanks for the receipes, always looking for new ones. If you're interested, I really like the website, http://the-daily-bite.blogspot.com/
