And Then Take The Ashes And Flush Them Down The Toilet

The other day I had a really bad day. A really bad day. I was grouchy as hell all day long. From the time I woke up till the time I went to bed. Although I'm pretty sure I was even mean to the people in my dreams too. It was that bad.

Still ornery, I sat down to write our family Christmas letter. Not a good idea. After reading the first draft, the overall tone was that I hated everyone, everything and I wanted to burn down your Christmas tree. And spit on the ashes. Definitely not good tidings of great joy.

It's probably
bad ju-ju to send out a Christmas letter like that, so I just deleted it and started from scratch. After a few diet cokes and some peppermint bark, I whipped that crap right out. Must have been the caffeine.

The point of
my story is that my cards are done, in the mail, and my letter was merry and bright. My homemade Christmas gifts are nearly done (which are awesome btw, and that we've been working on since before Halloween), my family is coming from California for Christmas, and I'm totally jazzed. Each day I feel less stressed and more excited about Christmas.

How about you? Are you ready?

And I need some good suggestions for man gifts. Please do tell.

Glad you decided to send GOOD tidings. However, I still would kind of like the bad letter!! :)

Here's my idea for a Nate gift. Instead of a spa weekend (as us women would love) send him on a golf weekend to a great course. I'm sure one of his buddies or his dad would join him...or you could just go with him and hang out at the spa while he golfs. Fun for everyone!

I would love to read your ornery letter though! Can't wait to get your card. Mine are in the mail today. But no letter. I couldn't think a dang thing to say.

It's nice to hear other people have a hard time writing those "lovely" Christmas letters. Ii just about kills me to talk about myself. Glad you are feeling better.

Your letter and picture were awesome. When Gwen saw the picture, she asked who Brett was. I told her "that's Brett." She then told me that Brett is her "favorite guy" and "best friend."

Did you save me a copy of the bad letter??? It would be kind of fun to read and laugh about it.
I can't wait to see the "merry and bright" letter and the picture of course!
Thank goodness for Diet coke!!!

I got a little excited when I saw your request for guy gifts. I just knew I was going to open up the comments and ideas after ideas were going to be listed and I was going to find just the thing for my guy. nope.
I mean the golf weekend is good except my husband already does that and I'm not invited (I don't think I want to be anyway).

I am so ready for Christmas. Bring it. I am mad it is still more than a week away though. I can't wait to open my presents. ha ha- but seriously I can't wait.

I can't help you on the man gift- mine bought himself a new mountain bike- at that price he will be good for Christmases to come.

Shar Bear! Don't know if Nater likes books, new one out by Charley Boorman. (Long Way Round Guy). I'm getting it for Scotty. Made him a Bronco's blanket for football nights, following in your footsteps of a homemade Christmas.

I'm nervous to see your card because Camry said you and Jessie were talking about them coming out dark! Please tell me you did not take them to Walmart! I did not do them dark did I? Or did you use a picture I did not do? Hope it looks good or just doesn't have my name on it!!!! Umm, also nervous being that I did not have a freaking clue about lighting that day and now have my studio done! Hope you guys are doing great! Have not seen ya in forever!
